Call for proposals — QueerScope short film funding

QueerScope – Association of Independent Queer Film Festivals in Germany e.V. supports filmmakers in the production of queer-themed short films within the framework of the QueerScope Short Film Fund.

The funding supports innovative queer short film projects with a screening time of up to 30 minutes that are intended and suitable for public screenings in cinemas or at film festivals.

Short films with a serial character, video installations, short films with an advertising character (image films) or immersive formats are not eligible for funding.

Film projects that contain anti-constitutional or anti-legal content, have a pornographic or violence-glorifying theme or obviously offend religious feelings in a profound and inappropriate manner are excluded from funding.

The funding is granted as a purpose-related prize money. Applications are open to filmmakers who are resident in Germany.

The application must include the following documents:

• Application form with requested funding amount (up to a maximum of 2,500 euros)
• Motivation/explanation for the queer-themed project (1 page)
• Brief synopsis of the content, description of the characters/protagonists (maximum up to 3 pages)
• Calculation (cost and financing plan) (1 page, an own contribution of 5% of the funding amount must be incorporated)
• Short biography/filmography (visual work sample can be added) (1 page)
• Implementation schedule (1 page)
• Screenplay (excerpt), if applicable

Applications must be submitted in electronic form (web-form/PDF) and in German. The required 7 pages are not allowed to be exceeded upon submission. Additional materials can be included by inserting a link.

The funding can be granted for the following areas:

• Script development
• Production
• Post-production

The projects will be reviewed by a jury from the queer German film and cinema scene.

Each filmmaker can only submit one project at a time.

Funding amounts and funding modalities are determined on a project-by-project basis.
