Call for proposals — QueerScope ShortFilmFunding 2026
QueerScope – Association of Independent Queer Film Festivals in Germany supports filmmakers in the production of queer-themed short films as part of the QueerScope Short Film Fund.
The funding supports innovative queer short film projects with a screening time of up to 30 minutes that are intended and suitable for public screenings in cinemas or at film festivals.
Short films with a serial character, video installations, short films with an advertising character (image films) or immersive formats are not eligible for funding.
Film projects that contain anti-constitutional or anti-legal content, have a pornographic or violence-glorifying theme or obviously offend religious feelings in a profound and inappropriate manner are excluded from funding.
The funding is granted as a purpose-related prize money. Applications are open to filmmakers who are resident in Germany.
The application must include the following documents:
- Application form with requested funding amount (up to a maximum of 2,500 euros)
- Inhaltliche Kurzbeschreibung des Projektes (Logline)
- Motivation/explanation for the queer-themed project (1 page)
- Inhaltliche Kurzdarstellung (Synopsis) & Beschreibung der Figuren/Protagonist*innen (bis zu 3 Seiten)
- Implementation schedule (1 page)
- Calculation (cost and financing plan) (1 page, an own contribution of 5% of the funding amount must be incorporated)
- Kurzbiografie/Filmografie (1 Seite, visuelle Arbeitsproben können hinzugefügt werden)
Die Anträge müssen in elektronischer Form und in deutscher Sprache vorliegen.
QueerScope – KFF Funding Guidelines 2026 (GERMAN)
The funding can be granted for the following areas:
- Script development
- Production
- Post-production
The projects will be reviewed by a jury from the queer German film and cinema scene.
Each filmmaker can only submit one project at a time.
Funding amounts and funding modalities are determined on a project-by-project basis.
- Start of the call for applications: 1 February 2026
- Submission deadline: 1 May 2026
- Announcement of results: 1 July 2026 (scheduled)
