Über QueerScope

QueerScope is a union of independent queer film festivals in Germany, a co-operation of 24 festivals in Germany and 3 in Switzerland. They reach an overall audience of over 30.000 each year and give numerous awards to short films, features, debuts etc. Jointly, the festivals award the QueerScope Debut Film Award. The QueerScope festivals are independent but work closely together. They sometimes jointly screen films, share promotional material and film copies to save filmmakers and distributors time and money, coordinate and share their own subtitle translations, and invite filmmakers to the festivals together.

About Queer Film Festivals

There have been gay and lesbian film festivals for several decades. While the number of films was rather limited at the beginning, LGBTIQ* filmmaking has grown over the years. Nowadays there are several hundred short and feature films world-wide each year, which deal with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intesex or queer topics.

The QueerScope festivals encourage the dialogue about acceptance and equal rights, point out injustices and discriminations, which still exist in Germany and around the world— and above all they celebrate great movies.
